When I first came across the notion of fruit compatibility I must admit I rolled my eyes. I was thinking, “Oh man not another dietary rule or regulation to follow. Stupse!” After the initial silent protest, I decided to adopt it nevertheless.
It was good for us because it forced me out of the robotic grapes and pineapples with the occasional cherries (when available) for breakfast every single day. Yes I kid you not, we were eating the same two or three fruits everyday. So, we really needed to include a wider variety of fruits and vegetables in our diets to get all the nutrients we need. That said, I decided to comply and now that I’ve been doing it, we’re reaping so many benefits. I’m trying all sorts of different fruits I would usually skip over. The other day I bought a persimmon!! I’ve been preparing the most delicious fruit salads. The flavours and colors are amazing!!!
I can definitely see why certain fruits are compatible with others. They go so well together and the combined taste is out of this world! How cliche would it be if I ended with “variety really is the spice of life!” Too cliche? Okay, fine, I won’t say it. But I’m sure you get the gist!
Today’s Fruit Salad
Acid Fruits-pink grapefruit, strawberry, pineapple, and pomegranate.
Ingredients (Serves 2):
1 whole pink grapefruit, peeled
1/2 cup of pineapple
1/2 of a pomegranate, seeded
Cut up everything as shown. For the peeled grapefruit, cut each half into 4 – 6 pieces. For the pomegranate gently remove the pith (white part) and attached seeds. Use gentle pressure so as not to burst them.
